Life can get overwhelming sometimes. And it’s easy to forget things or for things to fall through the cracks. At Dentistry at 1818 Market Street, we want to help make your life a little easier, so we put together a checklist for you to use before your next dental appointment at our center city Philly dental office.
You can use this dental checklist to prepare for your next Philadelphia dentist appointment.
Confirm your appointment – We call you to confirm all of our appointments, but if for some reason you do not hear from us, or you forget your appointment details, please call us to confirm. Make sure you have our exact address, including suite number so you can know exactly where you’re going when you get here. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment at Dentistry at 1818 Market Street in Center City, Philadelphia.
Fill out Forms – If you are a new patient at our Center City dental office, you will be asked to fill out our New Patient Form which you can fill out and submit online, on our website, before your next appointment.
Learn what is covered under your insurance – Dental insurance can be confusing. Go over your policy to learn what is covered and when you should expect out-of-pocket expenses. Before you undergo any dental treatment our Philadelphia dental office can help you understand what your insurance covers. This can include a variety of treatments, from tooth whitening and teeth bleaching to crowns, dental veneers, and bridges.
Understand Your Deductible – Your insurance deductible is the amount you have to pay before your insurance company starts to cover any costs. So, it’s essential to know about your deductible. This will help you better understand how much you’ll need to pay out-of-pocket for your dental treatments.
Bring Your Insurance Card – As with a visit to any type of doctor, always make sure you have up-to-date insurance information with you when you arrive for your appointment. If you have dental insurance, some services may be fully covered, while others may require some out-of-pocket expenses.
List of medications – If you are a new patient, the office will have you fill out a medical information sheet, as part of our New Patient Form, with details about medications and any medical issues that could affect your dental treatment plan. You want to be sure that your list of current medications is always kept current and up to date. It is extremely important to your health that we know any medications you are taking at the time of treatment.
List of any questions or concerns – Always take some time a day or two before your appointment to make a list of pertinent questions you want to ask. This can include any pain you may be experiencing, such as with your teeth, gums, jaws, or even headaches that may be related to your dental health. Along with this, also write down questions about such things as teeth grinding, brushing and flossing, and products you may want more information about, such as toothpastes, mouthwash, or whitening strips.
Know your dental history – It can be difficult to remember every procedure and surgery from the past, so it is helpful to come prepared with that information already compiled. If you are a new patient, we will need to know your dental history for the most safe and successful treatment.
Ask about financing options – Even if you have dental insurance, you may still be responsible for out-of-pocket costs. This is especially true for cosmetic procedures and smile makeovers. Our dental office in Philadelphia offers financing for dental procedures through Care Credit. We’ll be happy to discuss your options with you.
Schedule Your Next Appointment – Don’t forget to get your next appointment on the schedule before you leave. Whether it be a follow-up appointment or your next dental hygiene exam, it’s best to schedule ahead of time, while you’re in the office. This way you won’t forget to schedule it and we’ll be able to work with your schedule more if made in advance.
If you haven’t scheduled your next appointment, call us now to get it on the calendar. Before the appointment, check back to this list to make sure you’re prepared. We look forward to seeing you at Dentistry at 1818 Market Street!
